The four clubs
The 82-0 Challenge gives you four real franchises with four different profiles. There is no single correct answer — the best team depends on how you manage.
Boston Celtics — deepest, most reliable
The Celtics start with the best all-round balance: elite defense, strong offense and the league's deepest bench. They are the safest pick for a perfect season because depth absorbs injuries and schedule fatigue. If you want the most reliable path to 76+ wins, Boston is it — the benchmark against which every other choice is measured.
Golden State Warriors — highest ceiling, sharpest floor
The Warriors start with the league's best offense built on the most dangerous star in the game. Their shooting can run away with any game — and when it goes cold, the defense is good enough to hold. They are the classic 73-9 profile: spectacular streaks with the occasional cold night.
Los Angeles Lakers — all-in on the superstar
The Lakers have the highest-rated star in the game and the weakest bench. When the star is healthy, they can beat anyone; when he tires or gets hurt, the drop-off is dramatic. The Lakers reward aggressive rest management: protect the star at all costs and the ceiling is enormous — but every injury event is a crisis.
New York Knicks — the underdog story
The Knicks start below the other three in raw talent but carry the biggest home-court advantage in the league. A perfect season with New York is the hardest of the four — and the most satisfying. If you want the challenge at its most demanding, the Garden is waiting.
Which should you pick?
First time? Take the Celtics and learn the decision system. Want fireworks? The Warriors. Looking for drama? The Lakers — protect the star or perish. Chasing the ultimate bragging rights? The Knicks. All four can go 82-0; the difficulty curve is the difference.
